The Ugwu Ekwema Heritage Civic Centre represents our symbol of oneness, unity and common heritage. It is our traditional assembly ground for Oru Owere festival, a solemn remembrance of our founding father – Ekwema Arugo. Regrettably, Ugwu Ekwema has not been properly preserved and developed. It has an abandoned project which umu Owere want to complete. If the project is completed, it will generate revenue that will not only make the Centre self-sustaining but supports other community projects. The estimated cost is about N500M.

  • Let us come together and rebuild Ugwu Ekwema Civic Centre;
  • Every nwafor Owere is a critical stakeholder in this initiative;
  • We call on umu Owere, our in-laws, friends, business associates, and corporate bodies, to assist and support this worthy cause;
  • Let us stand up and be counted;
  • Let us commit ourselves to the actualization of this noble project for the benefit of our people; and
  • Let us change the old narrative about nde Owere.


Resource Mobilization for Ugwu Ekwema Heritage Centre Project

The main strategies for revenue mobilization are:

  • Request to Federal Government (NDDC) for resuscitation of the Constituency Project;
  • Appeal to Imo State Government; and
  • Self-help efforts by Owere Nshi Ise indigenes, inlaws, friends, business associates, and corporate organizations.
